The library was officially opened on Friday 13th September by Duncan Mills, CEO and the event featured in the Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph.  Invited guests included children from Freeman’s Endowed Junior School who left St Barnabas in July and were very excited to see the refurbishment.  The woodland theme features the classes - hedgehogs, owls, squirrels, badgers, kingfishers and otters.  Their Christian values are also incorporated into the design.  The refurbishment used original library shelving but in a way which has transformed it into a woodland wonderland.  The children were open mouthed when they first saw it and weekly library sessions are an exciting part of the weekly timetable.  The Friends of St Barnabas School donated a very large sum towards the refurbishment and parents have had an opportunity to see the result of the successful fundraising initiatives which made it all possible.

Pupils at Cottingham CE Primary enjoyed a week of activities to show their awareness of World Mental Health Day including their ‘Magnificent Mind Champions’ leading the act of worship. Children were invited to wear yellow in return for a donation to Corby Mind.  After school many enjoyed a cake & cuppa in the hall with donations of allergy aware cakes and bakes.  The academy’s Magnificent Mind Champions have been working hard to organise the event as well as introducing a worry box and also a system to help children find friends at break/lunch times.
