‘Loving and inclusive’ Cottingham C of E Primary School recieves SIAMS Recognition
Cottingham C of E Primary School, has been praised for creating “a loving, inclusive environment” in its latest Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) Report.
SIAMS inspections assess how schools foster a strong Christian ethos and how this, in turn, impacts the school’s life. The inspection also evaluates how well the school sets foundations for ensuring that the pupils, staff, and the wider community can succeed.
Inspectors praised Cottingham, stating that “a deep sense of care and warmth is evident across the school”. A notable strength was that the Christian vision was not only well embedded but also clearly understood and “actively lived out in love” across the school community, and that “pupils flourish as a result of the school’s commitment to developing the whole child.”
Ashley Scott, Headteacher at Cottingham, said: “Our Christian ethos informs each and every aspect of life at school, and we are very proud to see this recognised by the inspectors. Our community is very close-knit and everyone is dedicated to making Cottingham such a special place where every child feels happy, safe and supported.”
Other strengths and key findings also included:
- “The Christian vision is well embedded, clearly understood and actively lived out in love across the school community.”
- “A deep sense of care and warmth is evident across the school, where pupils and adults are known and valued.”
- “Pupils take on responsibilities with pride and enthusiasm, clearly embodying the school’s Christian vision in their actions.”
