PDET Local Governing Boards

PDET Local Governing Boards (LGBs) are made up of representatives from the academy and its local community, including a minimum of two elected parent governors.  The local governors support the directors to deliver strategic management and operational oversight at PDET’s academies.

The roles and responsibilities of LGBs are laid out in Schemes of Delegation. In brief, LGBs, working with the Headteacher and senior staff, are responsible for the challenge and support, strategic overview and performance of the academy.  The LGBs report to the directors on the provision of education at PDET’s academies.

Parent and staff governors are elected, except for the Headteacher who holds an ex-officio position on the LGB.  Co-opted governors are proposed by the local governing board and their appointment is approved by PDET.

The process for the appointment of Foundation Governors is managed by the Diocesan Board of Education. Appointments are confirmed by PDET.

For guidance on the appointment of members of Local Governing Boards, please see the Guidance document here.

The term of office for all governors is 4 years, with the chair being elected annually.

Please see our Academy Websites below for information on their local governing board membership.
